The Phillip Ruddock Blues
Gday all, I know this is some lazy-arsed shit, but I have to do an oral for english and I was hoping that some of you could help out. The oral has to be about a pro-*test*-('") song, and that pro-*test*-('") song then has to be linked to some form of media (eg film) I was looking to do The Phillip Ruddock Blues, but due to my laziness, which means i cant really be stuffed researching too extensively, I am looking to you guys to give the meanings/messages of the PRB. Also, if the PRB dont work out, if anyone could suggest any other songs that come under the "pro-*test*-('") song" label, preferrably any other TISM song or at least any australain songs. Thanks.

Do some research on "children overboard" Geez, it shouldn't be too hard just to go through it line-by-line.

It's more than just about the children overboard, its about the economic rationalism and market solutions that the government has been applying to its policy problems in recent history. The everybody help yourself is most likely a pun a common capitalist theme is that of 'helping oneself to the riches the free economy has to offer' or something like that, but on the flip side free economies remove the social welfare safety net, so if your in trouble you have to 'help yourself'. "In love with country" may not fit Everybody help yourself In with efficiency Everybody help yourself Costs exceeded benifits Everybody help yourself At Gallipolli Everybody help yourself Self-sacrifice just cannot pass Everybody help yourself A profit loss assessment Everybody help yourself Those ANZAC boys were slaughtered on Everybody help yourself Returns for investment Everybody help yourself Thats an ironic joke that, in this day and age, the Gallipoli campaign may have been viewed under a different light... that of economic rationalism, rather than human sacrifice. A government will only stop Everybody help yourself You getting what you can Everybody help yourself It just distorts the market if Everybody help yourself You help your fellow man The first two lines are TISM sarcastically spouting out the typical capitalist arguments for the dismemberment of the welfare state, and the inposition of a free economy, the second is a reading of the undertones of the first two lines. The rest of the song is on the same sort of lines, so obvious stuff about immigration, there is also a dig at the undermining of the public-school system in favour of a user-pays system that the Howard government is hell bent on implementing. Four years of economics and government studies finally came in handy!

road hag?
umm...perhaps i may fit the description of road hag.....what does it entail?as far as being online re. tism, tism are my favuorite band and i have seen them heaps, i usually wear a hat with flowers and go to melbourne gigs. as already said prb is one of my favourites but the white albun was exceptionally well rounded and wicked at the same time. perhaps its a similar slant on the world, perhaps the lack of tits and ass, perhaps its the fact theyre a talented and very fucking funny bunch of lads who really just dont give a fuck! who really knows what motivates them, i just dig the results. anyway im not here for a novel....take care

Is it greedy to want both? Or just human...
